The best solution for the storage and disposal of used oil filters. Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations for draining oil filters.
Models designed for both automotive and heavy-duty truck filters.
Rugged steel construction and air/hydraulic design for long-lasting operation
More Effective Method than Puncturing
- Crushing removes 95% of the residual oil that cannot be removed by the hot-draining method
- Tests show that on average draining a filter removes only 47% of the oil
- Crushing reduces the amount of oil that seeps out into trash cans, onto floors and in trash disposal containers
- No pre-draining of filters is required
Solves Compliance Problems
- A crushed filter is no longer considered a hazardous waste and is ready for disposal or recycling
- Many state requirements for used oil filter disposal are more stringent than federal regulations. Check local rules before disposing ofcrushed filters
Solves Storage Problems
- Eliminates the “pile-up” of used filters in drain funnels and storage cans
- Filter size is reduced by 75% to 80% allowing more filters to bestored for recycling pick-up
- A 55-gallon drum will hold 600-800 crushed filters versus 200 uncrushed filters
- Crushing cuts disposal costs
Good for the Environment and For Business
- Steel from the filter can be recycled
- Residual used oil can be recycled – eliminates water contamination if disposed of in a landfill
- Promotes a cleaner work environment and improves business image
Used Oil Filter Draining & Disposal
According to federal regulations, used oil must be properly removed from an oil filter prior to disposal. Used oil filters must be hot drained using one of four distinct methods. The two methodslisted below are the most commonly used and practical for most repair shops:
Puncturing and Draining
- The filter must be punctured with a screwdriver or punch that will allow air to evacuate the remaining oil. Hot-draining means draining the oil at near engine temperature. The filter must be placed gasket side down in a drain pan and left to drain for 12-24 hours.
Crushing
- The filter is crushed by a mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic device squeezing out the remaining oil and compacting the remaining filter materials.
